We have a Schwinn SRB-1800 recumbent exercise Bike. It has served us well for many years. Recently the tension adjustment began to respond erratically, and has now completely stopped. I can see the resistance motor trying to move every now and again. I'm fairly certain the resistance motor (p/n: 13001581) requires replacement. Unfortunately this part appears to be no longer available.
Can anyone tell me if I can replace the motor with a manual aftermarket lever or knob of some kind? I'm thinking something must be available that would be similar to a bike gear changing mechanism that could be mounted on or near the control panel, it would have a cable running down to move the magnet assembly back and forth. I realize that the control panel would no longer "know" what the resistance level is... but that does not concern me..
