I bought a used Schwinn 201 on craigslist. I tried it out and it worked fine. Got it home and within 5 minutes, it stopped changing the tension. I checked the plug and the guy had given me a 12 volt plug, when the bike requires 9 volts. The excess voltage seemed to have damaged something internal.
I tested the motor with a 9 volt battery, and it no longer turned. I was able to track down a replacement motor, but the tension still doesn't adjust. I tested the cable and all the wires checked out. That just leaves the console, right? I spoke to a friend that is an electrical engineer and he said it might be possible to repair the damaged components. Had anyone ever had any luck doing that? Or does anyone have a functional console available for sale? Thanks.
