My elliptical is doing this funny thing. When I set it on a higher resistance level it goes back and forth from hard to easy like it's skipping. Does this sounds like the drive belt? I do to want to get a part for it that I don't need....

Could be an issue inside the resistance motor. Does it feel normal at low resistance? Get on the machine and start striding and then try to stop it quickly. Does it feel like it tries to keep going...in other words, are you able to stop it easily? Try it both with, and without resistance. With that resistance motor, sometimes you can hear the winding as you adjust resistance levels. Do you hear it? If you can stop the machine easily, there may be a problem with the drive belt. It has either come off of the idler pulley or something else. You gotta open it up and see. Let me know

On the lower resistance levels it runs perfectly fine but as I increase the levels it starts to skip. The higher it goes the more it skips. I tried stopping it abruptly and the pedals stop right away but I hear the motor go for just a second longer. I can't really hear the motor while on it because the machine is old and the pedals make noise. I will open it up tonight and look for anything broken and let you know.
